Projects I have been working on.
I built a new gate for my side yard. Actually it was a door. The gate which was there was pretty ragged. It sagged and was warped, and it swelled up in the rain. It was old, and it was built like a gate. So I made the gate more like a door. I built it with a hardwood frame, glued and screwed, and with a little bit of joinery to boot. The door is rock solid. We will see how it stands up in the weather, but I am optimistic. With the painting, and repairing the part next to the door, It took about a month.
The other project was an outdoor end table. We had been looking for one in thrift stores and yard sales but found nothing. So I decided to make one. The design sorta popped into my head, and I had enough leftover materials to make it. It turned out pretty cool, if I may say so. It took a few days. I need to figure out how to finish it, stained or clear. And I might sand it smooth, or I might leave it rustic. My wife doesn’t like my potted plant, she says it is too big. Other than that, it is almost a perfect accessory to my porch.
